Salary Cap Solution

Tuesday 24 August, 2010 - 11:28 by Angry Rugby Lover in Default

First of all I must appologise for my last post it was a bit blunt...but I was in a bit of a mood. It did however make me think and I have realised that what i commented on does have its uses.

The Salary Cap debarcle.

There has been an issue surrounding the salary cap since it was brought in. Losing players to rival codes, players going overseas and club not being able tokeep players loyal or to keep loyal players.

When asked why we need a salary cap the NRL big wigs will tell us that it is to keep the competition fair, even and a tight competition. Well that excuse has been blown out of the water as you will see below.

1. Melbourne where rorting the system for years and how many premierships did they win. Apparently they had more highly paid quality players than any other team. (yeh right we have all seen brisbane, Manly and the Titans playing line-up.) Then why didn#39;t they go through undefeated or at least get minor premier every year.

2. The competition is close every year but it has nothing to do with the quality of players on the field. If this was the case (On Paper) Parra, Brisbane , Melbourne, St George and Manly would be unbeatable.

The fact of the matter is the NRL can eliminate the salary cap and still keep the competition close by just keeping the refereeing going the way it is. That ruling by the NRL to the refs saying we want a close comp so make sure you help decide the winners is doing a much better job than the salary cap ever will.....

nbsp;What do you think?????

Ive had enough

I am watching this weeks footy and have decided that maybe it is time to go back to following my Aussie rules. The refs in rugby are deciding the eight and ripping off the fans. There was no way that Manly should have won tonight but how else could they keep Parra out of the eight. What a joke.. I am sick of it and the NRL can get stuffed.............................

Round 17

Friday 02 July, 2010 - 18:07 by Angry Rugby Lover in Default

Its the start of round 17 and I am eagerly awaiting another weekend of great footy.
I absolutely love these origin rounds as they make for some great footy due to all the young guns getting runs due to rep duties of more well known players.

Speaking of origin I see that NSW has wielded the axe again. Why can't they learn that we need to hold a team together for a while and give them an opportunity to get to know each other. It seems that the only prerequisite is that you have to play for NSW and you could be axed. A perfect example of this is Idris he played a really good game in game 1 then axed it is a joke. Win lose or draw what NSW needs to do is AXE the selectors for a couple of years and stick with these players. Barring injury or suspension and see what they can develop into.

Now finally my tips for the weekend.
Broncos to beat the Tigers
Bulldogs to beat the Sharks
Roosters to beat the Raiders
Eels to beat the Warriors
Panthers to beat the Dragons
(I would have loved to see both teams at full strength)

A quick rant

Hey everyone!!!

I have been gone for a while and haven't been posting so we have a little catching up to do.

Lets start with the favouritism in the judiciary.

How pathetic was the Jonathon Thurston fiasco. Why did he get away with that? Players can't fight because we don't want our kids seeing that sought of behaviour. They can't have a drink after the game because it is a bad influence on our children but they can abuse the refs, disrespect authority and show the type of behaviour that would see my children having trouble sitting down for a while. Did he (Thurston ) ever give a public appology to the umpires and all the public that had to watch a spoilt child chuck a tantrum. My boys both play rugby and if either one of them acted that way towards a ref they would be sitting on the bench and publicly appologising to the ref after the game in front of all there friends and team mates. Oh well there name isn't Jonathon Thurston.

The Hayne and Slater love Tap

If this was any other two players they would have both been sidelined for a while. There was nothing in it the headbutt was stupid and the retaliation in the tackle by slater was just as pathetic (Entertaining Yes, But pathetic and childish) I didn't want to see anyone get suspended for it but when other players get 2 weeks for less well that really bites. Look at Tahu he should have walked into the judiciary and said "Just pretend I am Slater or Hayne and we will get out of here early"

Racism In League

Speaking of Tahu. Firstly cudo's for standing up for what you believe in but what I really want to know is would you have taken offence at Joey being called "whitey" or white bast@*rd or any racial slur like that. This happens all the time but no-one seems to care about that. If you want to fight racism I am right behind you but we need to fight all racism not just what suits you. Evereyone really needs to be equal and treat each other the same and expect to be treated the same as well. To remove racism we need to stop placing everyone into catagories like indiginous player, the indiginous team, or the indiginous league. Is there a league that indiginous players aren't allowed to play on. I don't think so and if there was they would be shut down for being racist. That is what needs to change before we can wipe out racism.

The World Cup Influence

Finally let me just say that it seems that quite a few players have been watching the world cup soccer. Some of the dives and acting last weekend deserved logies and I am sure a show like the footy show or something like that will come up with a special reward for divers or players that stay down. Post a reply and tell us about your favourite dive.

Welcome Back

Well another season under way and already the groans have started...

It's not the two refs,  nor is it any particular team,, It is the darn rules

How easy do they want it to score a try. The no separation rule is fine but what happens if a player losses the ball in midfield play but there is no separation from the body and he lands n the ball????KNOCK ON!!! So why can they do it over the try line. One rule or the other I say

The other rule is this absolutely pathetic protect the kicker rule.. Now I don't want anyone to get me wrong I think some protection is a good thing, but there has to be some modifications made. Mainly I think that as soon as a kicker heads towards the line they are open target. Otherwise all we will see is kickers staying up closer to the line and no-one game enough to go near them..

I would really love to hear what others think about this  so let us know by posting a reply
